ABOUT US

OUR MISSION & VISION

Grace House Upliftment Centre is a non-profit organisation located in Krugersdorp. We are dedicated to empowering disadvantaged individuals and

communities. Our mission is to provide safe accommodation to the destitute

and restore their dignity.

OUR AIM IS AS FOLLOWS:

  • 1. Provide the less fortunate, destitute, homeless and unemployed with a safe

and clean home environment that meet their basic needs in terms of

sanitation, clothing and food. A home where God is the cornerstone and is

worshipped above all else.

  • 2. Provide our residents with a set of skills that empower and equip them in

order to become confident, self-reliant and independent. We currently have

various self-improvement courses, counselling and meetings that are

presented by churches and other organisations in the area for our

residents. For most less fortunate persons it is essential to help them

restore a healthy relationship with God before they are able to effectively

obtain any other skills.

  • 3. Provide assistance to the community surrounding us in terms of food

parcels and hot meals to the homeless community in the streets of

Krugersdorp who do not live in our centre (this includes breakfast and

supper). We currently have a number of families who collect food parcels

from us on a weekly basis. These are families that are able to maintain their

living arrangement but simply cannot afford to buy groceries.

  • 4. Provide assistance and services to the very organisations and businesses

that assist us in terms of donations of food, clothing, furniture, cleaning

materials etc. We often have residents who assist with the refurbishment or

improvement of donor’s property for example painting of a church

structure, refurbishment of a donor’s furniture or goods. Our residents are

also always eager and available for other tasks and services.

  • 5. The main goal of Grace House Upliftment Centre is to be an organisation

that helps and assists not only the needy element of our community but to

also put back into the very community that supports us.

  • 6. To expand our work of turning charity into upliftment to the areas

surrounding us on a provincial level and ultimately on a national level.

OUR BACKGROUND

Grace House Upliftment Centre was founded by Hendrik van Rooyen and Lizette van Rooyen in December of 2020 when they were called to establish the centre. This came as an enormous relief to the multitudes of homeless and destitute in the community who had absolutely nowhere else to go. Grace House Upliftment Centre was registered as a non-profit organisation with registration number: 2021/623513/08.

We have seen several individuals come to Grace House Upliftment Centre whom are broken and who have no hope for the future due to personal troubles. Since the founding of Grace House Upliftment Centre, Hendrik and Lizette have vowed to treat every individual with the respect and dignity that they deserve, it has been said by multiple individuals who come to Grace House Upliftment Centre that they instantly feel at home and that they are part of a big family.

At Grace House Upliftment Centre we try to help everyone that needs help.

Unfortunately, we cannot always reach every individual due to our lack of

funding. We are in dire need of private and other investment on a massive

scale.

OUR FUTURE GOALS:

The building where Grace House Upliftment Centre is located does not

currently belong to the founders of the organisation, it is therefore a

long-term goal of the founders to buy the building or an alternative

facility to ultimately expand the vision of Grace House Upliftment

Centre.

  • We believe that we will be able to fulfil God’s vision for Grace House

Upliftment Centre once we own the building or secure another

property. Ownership of the building would enable us to install solar

panels and other tools in order to operate off-grid. At that time, we will

be free to assist many more individuals than we currently do or have in

the past and we will be able to reach areas we have previously not been

able to have an impact in.

  • To form strong relationships with potential donors and sponsors to

work together in helping the community and the less fortunate.

  • We are currently faced with the predicament of not only feeding the

residents of our organisation but also 40 to 50 homeless persons who

receive supper from us every night. Our resources unfortunately, in

reality, do not even cover half of what is needed to secure this practise.

It is therefore a goal of the organisation to secure a relationship with a

sponsor to help us secure this practise and possibly help even more

homeless individuals with not only food but other necessities such as

clothing etc.

  • Our NPC number is 2021/623513/08. We also are in the process of

obtaining our Section 18A TAX exemption status and anticipate to have

same completed and issued in due course.
